CUSTOMER SUPPORT ENGINEER

 

Reporting to:

The postholder is accountable to the Line Manager

Responsible for:

 

To carry out in-service investigations including associated detailed design and draughting and testing in the field of mechanical and electromechanical engineering to support the requirements of customers and associated PDS projects.

 

Secondary Purpose

To provide ‘support to production' services including investigations to queries raised through ECRs, NCRs, production permits and concessions.

 

Authority

The post holder will be responsible to the Line Manager and may be responsible for the technical supervision of other junior or outsourced and subcontracted staff allocated to his/her tasks.

 

Qualifications/Experience:

Essential -

 

Engineering degree or equivalent vocational qualification with a minimum of 3 years experience in the Aerospace/Defense environment preferably in a hydraulics/ control/ actuation related industry, ideally using Unigraphics CAD platform.

 

Outline of Job Requirements:

Principal Tasks

•  The preparation of product designs and drawings and Engineering Change Notes (ECNs), including the coordination of outsourced design activities.

•  To ensure the production of accurate, high quality work and control the associated time scales and costs of their activities.

•  To undertake the checking of detail, sub-assembly, general assembly and installation drawings, and the release of drawings and ECNs into the company production system.

•  To create sub-system design specifications and interface specifications which decompose the customer's requirements from the system level specification.

•  Preparation of schemes and provision of technical support for test programmes. To analyse test results and report findings.

•  To provide and maintain costing data in support of a project if requested to do so by management.

•  To ensure that the design is qualified and satisfies the contract specification.

•  To provide ‘support to production' services including investigation to queries raised through ECRs, NCRs, production permits and concessions and any other matter where production time scales are potentially adversely affected.

•  To undertake training of staff or other nominated persons if requested to do so by their line manager.

•  To carry out the above tasks working within the relevant Company procedures.

•  To produce quality work at all times.

•  To ensure the safety of both the design and working environment.
