SENIOR ENGINEER (STRESS)

Reporting to:

The post holder is accountable to the Line Manager

Responsible for:

PRIMARY PURPOSE

To be responsible to the Line Manager for the structural integrity of the Company's products.

 

SECONDARY PURPOSE

Study of specification documents to establish design cases and operating conditions.

 

AUTHORITY

The post holder will be responsible to the Technical Manager and may be responsible for the technical supervision of any other staff allocated to his/her tasks.

 

 

 

Qualifications/Experience:

Essential -

Engineering degree or equivalent with additional skills and abilities relevant to the Aerospace/Defence industry.

Desirable -

A background of relevant work in a hydro-mechanical/hydraulics/control/ actuation related industry.

Outline of Job Requirements:

•  May be responsible for the work and supervision of other staff, including sub-contract staff and consultants who are working both on site and at outsourced facilities.

•  Study of specification documents to establish design cases and operating conditions.

•  Prepare preliminary loads and stress analyses and assist with writing strength section of proposals.

•  To conduct static stress and fatigue stress calculations and propose any necessary design changes to meet Company and customer requirements.

•  Assist in providing continual and ongoing support to the project teams to provide a cost effective and high integrity product.

•  Assist in development of methods and procedures for the effective analysis of the company's products.

•  Preparation and issue of test instructions in respect of static, fatigue or other tests as required.

•  Liaise with engineers during test work and assist in interpretation of results and conclusions.

•  Evaluate effects of modification and amendments.

•  Provide support to Production Department questions with respect to Concessions, Production permits and other matters as and when required.

•  Prepare a type record or strength record to an adequate standard for the product.

•  Undertake training of staff as required.

•  To work to Company Procedures.

•  To produce quality work – first time.
